In Between Society – Different Strokes For Different Folks

European astronomers have discovered a new planetary system containing up to seven planets orbiting a star that is around 127 light years away from earth and already people are talking about the fact that this raises the odds of alien societies living on other planets.

The only problem with this theory is that this system may already have disappeared into oblivion.

Indeed humans will probably never find if there is in fact another society out there, because what these astronomers are actually seeing (in this new discovery) is a prick of light that existed around 500 million earth years ago. ( my guesstimate, give or take a light year or two :D )

Of course any fantastic looking picture we see of  planets & stars outside our own solar system is usually an informed Guesstimate, simply a clever artists impressions of what scientists think it actually look like, because to us they are simply pinpricks of light in the distance.

Don’t be fooled that “they” actually know whats out there, because they don’t, and if they ever do one thing is for sure, it will change before they get the opportunity to ever prove it actually looked as they said  !!

The whole of Africa breathed a sigh of relief tonight as Ghana won 2-1 in extra time to become the last remaining team in the 2010 world cup quarter finals.

Unfortunately this was at the cost of the USA but they were soundly beaten by a team from a country that gained independence only 50 years ago.

This also adds a little comfort to all the other African nations who have seen their teams knocked out of the competition in South Africa.

Three Russians, one Chinese-man, one Frenchman and an Italian will soon begin a 520 day stay in a huge Russian warehouse under constant camera surveillance by scientists who will monitor everything they do.

In this ultimate big brother space travel experiment every move, mood swing and facet of the astronauts lives will be under strict control.

On the 3rd of June 2010, the ESA Mars 500 project will send a “crew” of six on a simulated 520-day round trip to the Red Planet where they will spend 30 days exploring before returning to Earth.

The men will spend a strict eight hours a day working, eight hours of leisure time and eight hours sleeping and they will not be able to call on the help of their big brother watchers for food or personal help during the nearly 16 months the “mission” will take.
