The art of promotion has taken a new twist, with internet marketers taking a gamble that the end of days wont actually come to an end on December 21st 2012. They are expecting a crescendo of clicks leading directly up to and immediately after (if there is an after of course) the deadline set for doomsday by the Mayan calendar.

If the world is not wiped out, the more successful doomsday marketers will be able to reap the benefit of all those clicks which will come both before and after the deadline in a similar fashion to what happened during the Y2K debacle.

Of course, this all depends on the human race conquering the huge effects the “Peak Oil” scenario will have on our societies and our ability to ensure we are still able to use the internet in 2012.

If” I was a cynical (or should that be clever?) bookmaker, I would start offering odds of millions to one that the Mayan calendar is right about the date when the world will end (or should that be wrong? I should have taken more notice of the conversations my dad had with me about betting)

One thing though is for sure, along with the religious end of time scenario as portrayed in the Rapture, there is it seems a lot of money to be made in promoting the end of the world in 2012 from the effects perhaps of an earth destroying comet called Niburu.

In my “humble” opinion, this following excellent short animation depicts a far more probable end of days scenario at some time in the future

I think I managed to cover all the SEO Doomsday promotion keywords , if not, be sure to let me know in the comments :-P
