As an almost avid viewer of The BBC news channel I get to see quite alot of the various “reporters” and I have never come across one who is so vehemently biased towards (or perhaps against) one party as their political editor Nick Robinson.
Today I finally ran out of patience at his blatant opposition to the news that Labour & the Lib Dems were to publicly start talks about building a coalition that I got mad & tweeted Alistair Cambell as he was one of the political commentators Nick Robinsin was haranguing at the time.
I wanted to get my point across that someone should verbally & publicly remind Nick Robinson that as the BBC’s political editor he is supposed to, at the least, act as if he is being non-partisan.
Within minutes I realised that I was not the only one who was annoyed with his very public personal rantings as someone else had started a #sacknickrobinson trend on twitter.
In case you think I and the other BBC viewers are wrong to be annoyed, let me just give you one quote from this afternoon that had me fuming.
He said that the prospect of Liberal Democrat & Labour entering talks would be
“A coalition of losers ganging up on the winners”
The BBC political editor should know that no one party won an outright majority at the Election on May 6th so our constitution allows parties to then negotiate to form a majority, when that process is complete we will then find out who the actual winners are.
Now don’t get me wrong, he is entitled to personally believe his own opinion, however as a supposedly independent reporter he needs to understand it is not his opinion we are interested in hearing, it is instead his ( and some others at the BBC ) job to report the facts and/or ask questions of the various political figures.
If you want to see how many other people got as mad as hell over his opinions then simply click on the following Google search results for #sacknickrobinson
Having said all that, I would like to state that I am not personally asking for the BBC to Sack Nick Robinson, everyone needs a job, however he/we should be told what his job is, is it a political editor, a political reporter, a political interviewer, a political commentator or indeed a political satirist?
