Air Pollution Is An Ongoing Worldwide Catastrophe

More deaths per year worldwide are linked to air pollution than to automobile accidents and a study in 2005 also suggested that over 300,000 Europeans still die from air pollution every year with an estimated 32,000 of these premature deaths coming each year from the UK alone.

Respiratory infections alone cause some 4 million child deaths per year and another study suggests that more than 500,000 Americans will die each year from diseases and disorders that affect the normal functions of the heart and lungs.

Because these deaths are normally viewed as individual events, they are not deemed to be a mass catastrophe in the same way as a tsunami or an earthquake would be, however the cause is undeniably mass air polution and unless something radical is done now, there will be yet another 4 to 5 million deaths caused by air pollution in the coming 12 months and every 12 months after that.
